Toxicity and Detoxification

The amount of exposure to toxins the average American receives has increased exponentially, more now than any other time in history.  There are 6 million pounds of mercury emissions annually from coal burning, and 2.5 billion pounds of toxic chemicals released annually.  The average American consumes a gallon of neurotoxic pesticides and herbicides each year by eating non organic foods.  Nearly all of these chemicals can cause brain injury and be the underlying cause of a lot of chronic illnesses.

Patients can present with many chronic conditions related to toxicity like chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s and more.

At my clinic, an elimination diet with a medically supervised cleanse and FIRS (Far Infra Red Sauna) when indicated is the mainstay of treatment.  Special detoxification intravenous therapies like glutathione and phosphotidylcholine (PK protocol) which flushes the liver can be also prescribed.  These IV’s have been used safely in Germany for decades to treat Hepatitis C.

In addition, testing for food intolerances, celiac and gluten intolerance as well as nutritional and hormonal imbalances is critical, as is candida and other gut bugs.  Finally testing and treating, if indicated, for heavy metals can make a huge difference in someone presenting with signs of toxicity.
