Hypothyroidism

Since I think outside of the box, I have diagnosed many patients with low thyroid (sub-clinical) that would not normally have been diagnosed. The reason for this is simply because modern medicine has convinced doctors to treat the lab result and not the patient.  In my practice, if the patient has overwhelming symptoms of low thyroid, like fatigue, depression, cold sensitivity, dry skin, weak fingernails, constipation and a low basal axillary temperature: that patient is a candidate for a trial of bio-identical thyroid hormone.  Patients with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, depression can recover amazingly enough.  Treating this condition is a major mainstay of my practice.

Hyperthyroidism

Research has shown a link between nutritional deficiencies and hyperthyroidism.  So nutritional correction can alleviate symptoms of hyperthyroidism.  Also an IV vitamin push called Myer’s cocktail which is mainly B-Vitamins can help patients with overactive thyroid conditions.
